LockInBro is built to help you focus without creating an account or sending your focus activity to a server. This policy explains the limited data the extension handles locally in Chrome and how it is used.
1. Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to the LockInBro Chrome extension and this LockInBro website. LockInBro is a local-first focus timer and website blocker. During a focus session, it can redirect only the websites you have chosen to block to a packaged LockInBro page.
2. Information LockInBro handles
LockInBro handles the following information locally on your device to provide its focus-session and website-blocking features:
- Focus data: task names, chosen session durations, start and end times, and whether a session was completed or ended.
- Website-blocking settings: the domains you choose to block and whether each selected domain is enabled.
- Distraction-attempt history: the selected domain involved when LockInBro redirects a blocked navigation during an active session, plus a timestamp and the related local session identifier.
- Temporary-access information: the selected domain, an optional reason you enter, the duration you choose, and its expiry time.
- Preferences: onboarding status, theme, default session duration, and temporary-access preference.
Task names and temporary-access reasons are entered by you. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information in those fields.
3. Information LockInBro does not access
LockInBro does not read, collect, or transmit webpage content, form data, passwords, authentication tokens, cookies, personal communications, payment information, location data, contacts, or complete browsing history. It does not inspect the content of websites. It records only the selected domain and timestamp for a blocked navigation that occurs while a focus session is active.
4. How information is used
All locally handled information is used only to provide LockInBro’s stated purpose: saving your selected website boundaries, running and restoring focus timers, applying local blocking rules during a session, allowing temporary access when you choose it, and showing your local progress statistics.
LockInBro does not use this information for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or any unrelated purpose.
5. Storage, retention, and deletion
Information is stored in chrome.storage.local, which is local extension storage managed by Chrome on your device. LockInBro automatically limits session and distraction-attempt history to the most recent 365 days and to 1,000 records of each type. Temporary-access records are removed when they expire.
You can delete all LockInBro data from the extension’s Settings screen by choosing “clear local data.” Uninstalling the extension also removes its local extension storage in the normal Chrome uninstall flow.
6. Sharing, sale, and transfer
LockInBro does not sell, rent, share, transfer, or disclose your extension data to third parties. It has no LockInBro server, account system, analytics provider, advertising provider, or external API that receives this data.
7. Permissions
- Storage: saves local settings, focus sessions, and local progress history.
- Alarms: reliably expires focus sessions and temporary access when Chrome’s extension service worker is inactive.
- Declarative Net Request: creates local redirect rules for the domains you selected during an active focus session.
- Website access: allows those local redirect rules to apply to the sites you choose to block, including their subdomains. This does not grant LockInBro access to read website content.
8. Remote code and network services
LockInBro does not download or execute remote code. Its extension functionality is included in the installed extension package. The extension does not make network requests to LockInBro or third-party services to operate its timer, blocking, or statistics features.
9. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
LockInBro’s use of user data is limited to providing its disclosed focus timer and website-blocking features. It does not use or transfer user data for unrelated purposes, personalised advertising, retargeting, creditworthiness, lending, or data resale. LockInBro is intended to comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
10. Security
Because LockInBro keeps extension data locally, the security of that stored information also depends on the security of your device and Chrome profile. LockInBro does not transmit this data over a network.
11. Changes to this policy
If LockInBro changes how it handles user data, this policy and the Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures will be updated before or when the change takes effect. Material changes will be described clearly in the updated policy.
